Wine of the Week: two is good company; three is better

Ménage à Trios wines, from the Folie à Deux winery, are produced in the heart of California wine country. Ménage à Trios blends three specific grape varietals to create a harmony of flavors, each cold-pressed and fermented in small-batch, stainless steel barrels to preserve the juicy, succulent, fruit flavors of each grape variety.
The Ménage à Trios, ‘California White,’ is a blend of Chardonnay, Moscato, and Chenin Blanc. It offers a sweet pear and flowery nose, an orchard fruit blossom flavor with a hint of citrus, and a floral finish. The first sip is a bit bland; it lacks complexity of flavor, momentarily revealing only a rosy sweetness. As the wine settles onto the soft palate, however, it unveils its fruitier undertones – crisp apples with twists of lemon. The subtleties of flavor are initially overpowered by the apparent sweetness of the Moscato grape, and though that means this wine is not a particularly bold variety in terms of complexity of taste, it does make a refreshing drink that is easy on the palate, exciting to the tongue, and finishes so clean that it will leave you craving more. Ménage a Trios, ‘California White,’ is, overall, a well rounded, inexpensive, and versatile white table wine. It pairs well with almost any white meat, a beautiful Brie cheese bake, or sushi. Drink it on its own as a wholly refreshing, afternoon indulgence. It takes two to tango, but a Ménage à Trios might add a little mambo to your evening.
Ménage à Trios offers four blended wines; Chardonnay, California Red, Rosé, and California White. At a retail price of $12, and an alcohol content of 13.5%, the Ménage à Trios, ‘California White,’ is a true Napa Valley treat.
