Agricultured

Today was the Truro Agricultural Fair, filled with fresh, local produce, livestock, gardening demonstrations, and several competitions, most notably the pie eating contest. No zucchini to be found anywhere (what is going on?), but lots of good fun to be had by all. Till, baby, till!

Vegetable Competition...with a sense of humor.

Pie eating contest!

Our big purchases for the day: 1 gorgeous pumpkin that will actually not be carved but will serve as the model for Mom to make more clay pumpkins and gourds. 1 reusable shopping bag made entirely from recycled materials, and 1 "seadog" from Mac's Seafood, which is a lobster tail, stuck on a stick, deep fried, and finished with sriracha and lime aioli. Yummy? Yes, but I'm a purist. Deep frying is dandy, but I still prefer my lobster boiled, in its shell, and accompanied by a shameful amount of butter.
