This photo was taken after much of the haul was used to make a HUGE stockpot of tomato sauce. We are inundated to the point of contemplating eating tomatoes as if they were apples to get rid of a chunk in a hurry, before they melt into the counter. Yet, I can’t find a zucchini anywhere. What happened? Cape Cod seems to have a squash shortage this year. In fact, I stockpiled so many zucchini meal ideas in anticipation of the inevitable surplus that now I’m thinking about actually purchasing a zucchini just so I can try out some of the recipes. If anyone has a zucchini, I’ll trade you nine tomatoes and a cucumber for it.
More fun food thoughts for today – baked Mallory’s Blueberry Buckle Muffins for the Inn guests, sent off my first round of mail order bread (pesto-pine nut) to Saratoga, and sampled the cheese and olive bread (two separate loaves) that my mother toted home from PB Boulangerie. It was a good day.
