White Sangria

You’ll need:
½ cup of premium white rum
3 L of white wine, chilled
½ cup ginger ale, chilled
The juice of one orange or ¼ cup store bought
One seedless orange, two kiwis, one lime, and 5-7 large strawberries, all thinly sliced

Place your sliced fruit into a large punch bowl that can hold at least 4 L of liquid. Add about half of the white wine (this preparation uses Protocolo’s blended white -- Chardonnay and Pinot Grigio -- but use any white wine you prefer) and all of the white rum to the fruit and then place your punch bowl fruit mixture in the refrigerator, allowing it to sit for a couple of hours. This chilling time will infuse the fruit with your lovely wine and rum pairing. When you are ready to serve the Sangria, take the punch bowl out of the refrigerator and add in the rest of the chilled wine, the orange juice, and the ginger ale for a little extra pizazz.

To make Happy Holidays White Sangria, slice pears instead of kiwis, replace the premium white rum with a VSOP brandy, trade the strawberries for ripe, pitted cherries, and toss in a couple cinnamon sticks. Drink with friends.
